Breasts that are too small or sagging too much?
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, ageing or weight changes. All of these are factors that have an impact on your breasts. Have they begun to sag over the years or have you always found them to be too small? Then with a breast enlargement you can have the shape and size created as desired. Our experienced plastic surgeons make this possible for you with highly advanced techniques and safe breast implants. These implants are CE marked and FDA approved.
Placement of breast implants
The breast implants, also known as breast prostheses, are placed under the breast tissue or under the chest muscle. The choice between these two techniques depends on the amount of glandular and fatty tissue that you have at the top of the breast. If this is sufficient, the prosthesis can be placed under the tissue, so that the breast retains the most natural shape and movement possible. If there is insufficient tissue, the plastic surgeon places the prosthesis under the muscle. With both techniques, there is usually no scar visible after breast augmentation.
Breast lift
Are you satisfied with the size of your breasts, but are they not firm enough? Then a breast lift is a solution for you. This is because, with a breast lift, some skin is removed around the nipple so that the breast will sag less. If desired, the areola can also be reduced.
Treatment and recovery
The treatment itself always takes place under general anaesthesia and usually takes about an hour and a half. You will stay in the hospital for one day after the procedure. In total you will stay in Turkey for at least five days, depending on the operation. The swelling around the operated area disappears in the course of the following weeks. The feeling in your breasts and nipples may also temporarily disappear, but this will gradually reappear. After a few days to a week, you will be able to resume your normal activities as long as you make sure that you do not lift or carry anything heavy during the first three weeks. You can work out again, if you wish, after six weeks. You will receive exact instructions that apply to you personally from your doctor.
Complications
Breast prostheses nowadays last for many years. As long as no complications arise, they do not need to be replaced. But just like with all medical procedures, complications such as pain, infections, post-bleeding and capsular contractions may still occur with breast augmentation. Pain complaints will gradually disappear during the first week. With a capsular contraction, too much connective tissue grows over the breast prosthesis, which can cause more pain complaints or a change in shape of the breasts. To prevent complications or to treat them as quickly as possible, you should go to the treating doctor at our clinic in Istanbul the first few days for follow-up checks. Afterwards, aftercare takes place in the Netherlands at doctor Deniz of the Dutch Clinic, the clinic that is also affiliated with the hospital where your breast augmentation was performed.
Results of a breast augmentation
The overall result of a breast augmentation varies per woman, but is usually quite easy to predict. Even though the result is immediately visible, the swellings distort the overall appearance in the beginning. The final result is achieved after 9 to 12 months. This is permanent, but will be influenced by the natural process of ageing.

Breast augmentation – Frequently Asked Questions
Below you will find the most frequently asked questions about breast augmentation in Turkey. The questions are provided with short answers. Do you have additional or other questions after reading the information? Then please contact us.
Breast augmentation is a relatively short-term surgical procedure that is performed under general anaesthesia. Mentor-brand implants, or breast prostheses, are inserted diagonally behind or in front of your pectoral muscle. The exact location of the prostheses will be discussed with you during the consultation with the treating physician. The incisions made to insert the implants are made as much as possible in skin folds under the breast. Upon placement of the prostheses, the skin is sutured and the procedure is completed.
The procedure takes place under general anaesthesia, which means that you will not feel anything. However, pain may occur once the anaesthetic has worn off. How you will experience this, varies per person. Some people have lower pain thresholds than others. Depending on the placement of the breast prostheses, the pain symptoms with regard to placement behind the so-called gland tissue are many times more severe than when the implant is placed behind the chest muscle. Because you stay overnight in the clinic, you can indicate the degree of pain you experience. After your discharge, you can use acetaminophen to combat pain.
Plastic surgeons use different types of prostheses. These are the so-called round and anatomically shaped prostheses. Both prostheses are shown during the consultation and the doctor discusses which type of prosthesis is most suitable for you. This depends, among other things, on the shape of your breasts. Anatomically shaped prostheses give more volume at the bottom, while the round breast prosthesis gives the entire breast more volume.
During the consultation with the plastic surgeon, which precedes breast augmentation, your expectations will be discussed. The surgeon will indicate to what extent this expectation can be realised, taking into account, among other things, the glandular tissue present, your skin structure and your physique. A customised treatment plan is then compiled.
It is normal for your breasts and/or nipples to be less sensitive or more sensitive than usual after the procedure. This usually takes up to several weeks or months. The normal feeling usually returns gradually.
Breastfeeding after breast augmentation is usually not a problem. As a result of stretching the skin of the breasts during pregnancy, the shape, however, may become less attractive. For most women who have had a breast augmentation, and then go through a pregnancy, find that the breasts later resume their original form. Occasionally a new correction may be desirable.
No, plastic surgeons advise not to exercise during the first six weeks after the procedure.
Give your body time to recover. Most women undergoing breast augmentation can resume most daily activities after two weeks. This is largely determined by the nature of the work you perform. Light physical work can often be resumed sooner than heavy efforts such as heavy lifting. The plastic surgeon will discuss with you the period within which you can expect to return to work. You can usually lift carefully again after 4 weeks.
Yes. The plastic surgeon will give advice on wearing a sports bra. For a quick recovery, it is important to wear the bra day and night. The surgeon will discuss with you how long you will need to wear the bra.
Negative media coverage, in particular about unsafe silicone implants, has led to doubts about the safety of the procedure. However, if the procedure is performed by a skilled, experienced plastic surgeon in a fully-equipped clinic, then it is a safe operation. The Dutch Clinic works with professional, qualified surgeons. The procedure is performed with FDA approved implants that have the CE mark.
The operation usually takes approximately one and a half hours. You will stay overnight in the hospital following the procedure.
Every medical surgery involves potential complications. General complications are post-bleeding, inflammation, pain and capsular formation. Often the symptoms subside automatically. The feeling in the breasts and nipples can be different than before the procedure. The feeling improves again in the weeks and months after the procedure. If you suffer from long-term complaints or other complications after breast augmentation, contact the plastic surgeon.
After the procedure, a membrane, the capsule, forms around the inserted prosthesis. Capsular formation is a normal, natural body reaction to the introduction of foreign material.
The biggest difference is that capsule formation is a normal physical phenomenon, while capsule contraction is a complication resulting from breast augmentation. Women who experience capsule contraction must have the inserted prostheses removed or replaced. Another operation must be then be performed.
Do you have a medical indication? Then there is a real chance that the costs of the operation will be reimbursed. Without a medical indication, your health insurer will not become involved and the costs will therefore not be reimbursed.
You will receive a personalised treatment plan from us. This plan is thorough, and will also contain a detailed quote. The plastic surgeon will explain both the procedure and the costs during the introductory interview.
The Netherlands has a number of lenders specialising in cosmetic surgery. The options depend on your financial situation and your possible credit history. Note that taking out a loan makes the cost of a breast augmentation more expensive. This is partly due to interest costs.
